This is Billy Bob and the Consortium
Let’s Have a Conversation Today
We, The Consortium Say, Thank You
Greetings, we want to say thank you for joining us each week when we gather to talk, to voice our concerns and give you housed folks the truth that government will not
Billy Bob, here I remember talking about us gathering together and how important it is for so many different reasons. You folks with homes gather for BBQ’s and football games, holidays and the like, well we out here gather for other reasons. We check on each other, share resources, make sure no one is being left behind, make sure the old ones are still with us, and that the young forgotten ones are on track to maybe get off the streets. Sucks, we get together to just not lose our minds out here, it is so tough and your folks honestly don’t make it any easier for us, telling us that we are all dumb, addicts, bums or mentally ill and you know about us, but that is why we talk so, so you can be educated a little bit.
Hey, it’s Mike, when we talked and talked about how fearful it can be out here and how you can help and that you do not have to fear us. I remember talking about if people knew about fear, that deep, dark fear of things going bump in the night, you understand that deep fear, right? You folks are so blessed, you live behind walls, locked windows and doors, and with security systems, but we have none of that. I remember asking if you could explain why, you fear us, why you are scared of us, you carry the power to harm us, but nonetheless, fear is real and we ask for your mercy and for you not to react with fear when you see us, please. We don’t ever intend to harm any, that is a false picture painted by them intelligent ones who can’t and won’t help us.
Sally, man when we talked, I learned how the Line Crossers and Rule Breakers were such a blessing and help us stay alive and feel better by getting us food. I started to understand that not all people with homes were tough and mean, that some of them were good people, just caught up in the game of politics and the government rules. Morning after morning we sit here like real humans, almost without a care, almost without fear, and we drink coffee and eat treats and talk like we have a hope and future, until reality comes back. But, for that brief time frame it is so good, the food helps us maintain a balance and focus that is needed out here, thanks. Line Crossers and Tule Breakers, y’all are the best and we bless you and owe you a debt of deep gratitude.
Well folks, you know me, Pete, I am the glass half empty, I see the darker side of life, the hopelessness, and we suffer with it, and I just try and not give up. There is no good way to talk about hopelessness, it is present and follows us like a dark shadow, and some of you with homes understand this darkness and have struggled with it and know what we speak of. This was the conversation we had that morning, shortly after Barb was lost, hopelessness can be a fatal illness out here. But we also talked about how a smile, a kind word, even being ignored was a way of breaking that hopelessness so that we don’t feel so pressed to leave this earth so early. I know that when we were talking that morning, we were all remembering those who did not make it through the battle with hopelessness, I hope you do not have those memories. Like I do of my friend so hopeless that he went and said help to a freight train. Blessings
Well Frankie, here, I stole this one from Mr. Pete, I love coffee, and we talked about why we do, it makes us feel human and you housed folks know that all too well. I remember back, way back, when I was able to buy coffee, oh the money I would spend on coffee, no expense spared. We had a good morning talk that day, laughing and joking about coffee and how without our friends that care about us we would not be enjoying a comfort treat that most pay too much money for. We for that brief time in the morning when we gather get to feel human again and sit and talk and share and the pressure, the fear, the worries and concerns disappear while we visit and share, thank folks.
Bill, here a subject that we actually talked about that no one likes to, it is the subject of death and dying and how we have to face it out here without dignity. In the world that we all used to belong to the dying process is made to be easy, simple and comfortable and that is good, it should be that way, for it is just a transition to the eternal world.
Reality hits when you are homeless, there is no comfort, no frills, no companions, except your fellow homeless friends, and you die on the cold, hard pavement and then it is over, not closure, no mourning, no grieving period. It just ends. For most of us we have come to grips with this reality and for a few we have planned to aid this end, not in a manner to shorten our lives, but to end without the prolonged dying process without dignity. We talked all about this that morning, and I think we made a good impression on you and helped you start changing your thinking about our lives out here, and if we did, we are grateful, thanks.
Let me go now, jail, you folks are too mixed up and me, Johnny Boy will try and school you about the jail thing one more time, sorry I get a little frustrated still with people’s thinking about jail. We talked that morning and tempers were hot, and thinking was twisted, and we got upset, but I hoped you listened while you read what we were talking about.
We are jailed for struggling to live, for sleeping, for asking for help, for washing our face in a sink, for sitting down, and yet murderers and hardened criminals get bail, explain this. It does not help us at all, the noise, the confusion, the smells, the mess, and the dangers, all make us more fearful, scared and less able to handle life after we are released. Often, we have to start gathering out paperwork all over again, you all know what happens when you lose important papers, right? Jail ain’t good, period.
Well thanks folks, we appreciate you and your willingness to read, think and consider other points of view rather than think that what the government and its agents say is 100% truth, greetings. We are the Homeless Consortium, and we love to throw ideas like mud at a wall and see what will stick and in that make, you stop for a moment and reevaluate what you have been told and trained to believe. Hopefully you will join us again soon when we release our next batch of stirring, thought provoking conversations, that may get you to think even more, don’t be angry or mad, but just think. Blessings.
