Gathering Is So Important

This is Billy Bob and the Consortium
Let’s Have a Conversation Today

Getting Together is Very Important

Good morning, everybody, is everybody okay, awake and ready to talk and plan this morning? Easy Billy Bob, let the coffee start its way through the system and then we will be. I know I am just excited that it is that time of year that our circle grows a little and it is preventive and needed. Yea, I agree, but coffee first always and then we will be ready, today is important.

Hay guys, good coffee this morning and many treats for us all, we know we are having company this morning. They are not company they, are family silly friend. I know, I need some of my own coffee that I just picked up and then the head will shake off the cobwebs. Last night was tough all the noise, extra people, extra police and just too much, I am glad that night happens only once a year! Me too, now our busy season starts, and it is a tough one for us and for what we try and do since the government is still failing us and the unaware American. Easy, Pete, drink coffee.

Good morning, are we on time today? Oh, goodness, good morning you two, how are you? Good to see you all today, although as we always say, we wish it were in different circumstances. Nothing to fret over with that, we are just glad to see you both. Let me say we are truly saddened about the loss of Barb, she was a tough bird, but very special. Thank you, Besty, Jack, have a seat and join in please. These are our newest family members, Bill and Sally. Frankie and Pete have mentioned you, but have not given your story away, but I am glad to meet you both today. Thank you good to meet you both as well.

Well from now until January 1st will be some of our toughest weeks out here and Jack and Betsy always come by and offer a giant helping hand to help get the guys through this season with as few a number of suicides as possible. We have even been able to get some back with their families thanks to their help, and the guys have been able to eat good during this season.

People often wonder, why do you bother to gather every day, nothing is changing, nothing is going on, why gather every day? The simple reason is this, we have nothing and no one, so we gather to make sure one another is not slipping over the edge and to just talk and see if any is in trouble and if we can help. You house folk do not seem to remember what it is like to have a bad day, a bad week or a tough spot, but that is our normal. Getting together, hanging out, talking, checking on each other, makes life hurt a whole lot less.

Frankie, you know why we are gathering today, right? Oh Billy Bob, yes, I do! Mike, you know why? Yes, after last year, I cannot wait to do it all over again! Sally, Jack and Betsy come and help us gather, collect, sort and hide holiday stuff, clothing, and the like that we can hold it until close to Christmas or when an emergency arises and then we get to hand it out! You guys do this for us every year, without questions or repayment? Yes, Bill we do, you all deserve much more, we just do what we can. Don’t the charities do something like this? Yes, they do, on one single day and they go away until next year. Oh, makes sense.

Frankie, do you still have your access that you did last year for the shirts and stuff? Yes, I do, and I have just talked to them this weekend. New shirts are always a treat, Betsy, can you store them until the holidays come? That is why we are here, to help like we have been doing, isn’t that why you call us the Line Crosses and Rule Breakers? What was that? Sorry, Sally, it is what we call those that help us quietly without drawing attention to themselves, Line Crossers. You guys are just too cool. Alright, we need to honor the memory of Barb, she loved the proper sneaking around we do this time of year.

That is why gathering all around the year is important, nobody feels left alone, isolated, separate, that is what makes it tough out here. With all the mess going on about close the camps, clean up the streets, get rid of the homeless, it is important that we stay together and help each other. Yes, it is too easy for one of us to drift off into a bad place we are not together and drinking coffee and letting others know about those we are watching over. Frankie, are your two charges, are they okay? Yea, they may be able to be off the streets in a month or two, benefits and all that. Great holiday news.

Now Sally, this will be your first holiday season out here, and I am sorry, the best thing to do is show up here as often as you can, gather with us. It will not make the struggle go away, but we can help you through the struggle and see your way to the other side, but if you try and do it alone, troubled waters. Sally, Bill, for your first year, I would like you both to help Jack and I with a special project, would you both be up for that challenge?  Yes, sounds good. Sure, why not. Mike, I do not want to do anything alone, because I want to stay off the stuff the doctors who got me hooked, and maybe one day I can be back in a home. I will be here very, very often, holidays out here, the only way to even think about them, is by helping y’all on your mission. We would be glad to have you, both gather with us and to help us.

Hey guys you know to be ever more cautious right now, with the new laws and the sad turn the great President has taken, that turn will sweep the land, sadly. Yea, Jack, we are aware, that is why we are in a different spot, far less exposed, and harder to find and be heard. I mean, I know that he is a good President, but did he have to go and do that?

I guess it is one of those things, meaning, with little understanding of the ramifications. There are no beds, no shelters, no food, there is nowhere for us to go, what does he think will happen to us? Easy Johnny Boy, this is another reason we gather so often, to talk and discuss and plan when bad decisions come down the pipes and then we can try and plan for them. We have to trust God more than ever, He truly cannot desire that we simply disappear, can He?

So, from here, we go back to hide, to rest, to check on others, to collect, and to prepare, and watch what this nation will do, and then we come back again. Frankie, what sage advice do you have for us today? Oh, sucks, me, well, I would say keep your head down, keep eyes open and watch and listen, this nation is in a tough spot and within a year or two we will know if it will pull out of the steep dive or if flames are coming from the engine. Remember, we get to witness stuff them housed folks would not even imagine, front row seats, that is why we gather, to tell great, true stories.

Hey, thanks for joining us today
