Let’s Have a Conversation Today
Barb Is in Trouble Today
Hey, Billy, good morning. I need help, and I don’t know what to do, please, slow down, Barb, what has happened? They are releasing him, releasing him early, and for good behavior, can you imagine that! When did you find this out? Last night, my sister has a way of getting critical information to me, and she did late last night. Oh Barb, how soon? In less than 10 days! Okay, we will talk today and start making plans.
Pete, please grab some food this morning to have with our coffee, it is a tough morning for Barb, and we need food for all of us to think better. Yeah, okay, no problem, Billy, I will be right back, I know just the place, and I will be back with plenty for all of us. Pete thanks.
Good morning, did y’all have a peaceful night and get some rest? Yes, I did, why is the mood so quiet and so down this morning. We have some work to do, and it is important work that we must do today. I slept, and as soon as I get coffee, I will be ready. Barb, are you okay? No, Frankie, I am not; he is getting out early! The hidden, quiet spot goes absolutely quiet, not even Johnny Boy moves after those words are spoken. Okay, it is time for a plan of action. Yes, and food and coffee are taken care of and on the way, this is a tough morning, and food is needed for all.
May I ask how much longer was he supposed to have been inside? He should have been in another 2 years for the horrible beatings and torment he put me through, but overcrowding and behavior have allowed him to be released. 2 more years and my plan would have been completed and would have been able to be out of here before that darn monster was free to hurt me again to find me and to torment and hunt me down. 2 more years, my plan was working!
Hey guys, I am back, with plenty of food and coffee for everybody. Pete, how did you score all of this? None of us homeless dudes get food like this! I have a good friend who will help when I am in a crisis, and he will come through for me, and he did his morning. First of all, Barb, I am sorry for your troubles. I am here for you and will defend you to the end, no matter come what may, he will not hurt you ever again. I stand with Pete, and so do I Barb, you will not be alone this time, no way. Thanks, boys, normally I would tell you to go stuff all your bluster, but I can’t do that, the monster is being set free.
Now does your sister give you any other details, other than he is being released in a few days? What do you mean by other details? Like parole, limits, restrictions, restraining orders, halfway house, and that kind of thing. No, not yet but she was going to follow up and let me know, he still has a lot of friends who think he should not have gotten the ten years for beating and abusing me. Well, he will never have a chance to touch you again. The divorce is final, correct? Yes.
Guys, just the thought of him being out here, free and roaming the streets when I was so close to executing my plan of escape is so maddening. Barb, how close were you to the final part of the plan? About 16 months, because I thought he would still be in jail, and I had the time because I have to fully disappear into a different person so that he can’t locate me ever. Who has your stuff that you have been working on? My sister is the only one other than you guys that I trust. Barb, as hard as this will be to hear, I need to say, and you need to listen, one of us needs that contact info. Why would one of you need this, trying to swallow her coffee and doughnut? For the wicked, just in case situation. Oh, that makes sense.
Okay, good morning, good Monday morning, everybody, let’s slow down, breathe, drink some coffee, and eat some food, and breathe. We do have a problem to solve, but this level of intensity from us homeless folks ain’t our style, we will solve it, but breathe, everybody breathe, we will get you safe and relocated, drink, eat, and breathe and solve problems. Billy Bob, you are too funny, but to tell the truth, we about lit up the corner we are hiding in with the intense discussion this morning. Johnny Boy, we have time to resolve, solve, and fix this for Barb and serve him notice that you best not try and come after one of ours or else, but for now, eat breakfast.
Now, for you good folks just joining in the discussion today, Barb has told me it is okay to give you a brief history of the situation that has made her so frightened. She was married, the all-American guy, good job, into security as a career, was financially comfortable, no kids, traveled, but something was off, and she told no one. Slowly, Barb started missing work, missing family events, excuses were all over the map, stories were wrong, and fear replaced the joy that once lived in the home. Police were called, and one night, the secret was out, he went to prison. Yet she was not free. He had friends, and she ran away, into the dark of night, and no one has seen her in society since that night. Family and friends threatened anytime she landed near them, had to run. See, twisted stories of false blame often are a part of the abuse and cause victims to fail to report, until the police come to clean up the murder scene.
Billy Bob, thank you for telling my story so gently, I could not do it again. People must know that violence in homes is real and causes long-term harm and damage. What part of your plan do you have in place? Frank, the part that moves me out of state with a new identity so that I can try and start all over again elsewhere. I know it is not enough, but that is why I am so upset, I needed that extra time to finish the plan.
Alright, we are going to have to think about this one. Johnny Boy, get to the library and start your research bug and start digging on how to legally disappear people. Frankie, please start scouting a new resting spot that has a spot for one of us to be there to monitor for intruders. We need to find that spot soon. Pete, work with Frankie, if we move resting spots, we need food spots there as well. this must be done soon for Barb to be safe while she wraps up her plans to leave. This is not talked about, period, except here in the Consortium, safety is the first concern for Barb. Barb, rest, we have one, and we will get you through this. Same time and place tomorrow, folks?
Note: A vast majority of females on the streets are victims of violence and are literally hiding. Why is this, there is no system in place to protect them from their abusers. Restraining Orders are most often useless, and the victims are too afraid to apply for them. Restraining Orders do not stop bullets, knives, fists, and the threats that come with the domestic violence syndrome plaguing America. This may be a ‘story’ made up with a bunch of fictitious characters, but there is deep truth if you are willing to re-read it.
Ecclesiastes 4: 10
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor, if either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity the one who falls down alone and has no one to help them up.
