This is Billy Bob and the Consortium
Let’s Have a Conversation Today
I Found Gold! I Found Gold! AKA Food
Good Morning, Folks, thanks for stopping by today. I can talk to you for a moment while the others are gathering in. Our little coffee consortium has been going through a lot, and you have heard us fuss and get upset, but I do not think you comprehend the reality of our situation. Read this with no other thoughts in your mind for a brief moment: You have hit a rough patch, a bad one, the job folded unexpectedly, no savings to last very long. Your parents are elderly and cannot help you through this patch, and the kids are struggling in school this semester, you are stuck in stormy seas, what to do?
This reality sets in, you cannot pay the bills, the food is running out, the kids are hungry, and the wife is frustrated, and the floor falls out from under you. You make a wrenching decision, you send her and the kids to her parents for a short spell, to get back on your feet for the family. But you don’t, you join us out here. This is a reality for so many, but none will speak of it, for fear it will become all too real if they do. That was a long imagination, but it is reality for many new homeless people. Please join us today. See, you housed folks have been told a giant fish tale of who and who is not homeless and what a homeless person is and is not, and that is fairy tale. Our numbers have exploded, and help has diminished, and we are dying daily, that is reality.
Morning, guys, Pete said he will be a little bit late this morning, but he said it will be well worth waiting for him. If he is late, coffee is late, it had better be good, I mean, no coffee, not like our faithful coffee guy, but okay. Let’s just settle in for our discussion today and by the time we do this, he should be here. He said it would be good this morning, so let’s give him time.
Pete, hey there, glad you could make it this morning. You guys want to be rough and fresh this morning; I will take my treasures and go away. Okay, okay, mercy, just kidding and playing. What do you have in the giant bag, I have not seen you with a bag that big in the morning. This, my dear coffee friend, is pure gold, absolute pure gold, I have a new source, and we are going to eat well this morning. In the midst of all this turmoil, you found food for us. You are all going to eat well today, just wait, coffee first and then dive into this bag.
Sally, don’t hold back, I know you are hungry just like the rest of us, dive in and enjoy, this morning is a treat for us all. I did not think we were going to have a tough night last night, and food always helps. Pete, thank you, I needed food this morning, it has been a couple of real tough days. Bill, you are welcome. Pete, how did you find this Line Crosser, this great food, I am so glad that you did, man, it is so good. Pete, will you be getting this food for us very often? Frankie, my friend, just settle down and enjoy the food, we have work to do this day. Man, those folks with homes do not realize how special getting food really is until they go without for a few days. Mike, you are so right, on days like this, I would like to talk to those housed folks and show them that we are humans just like them.
Howdy folks, like me break into your reading for a moment and explain our excitement. When we get to actually eat for the day, and more than a snack, it is like we have found gold. You are blessed and do not understand what hungry is, but we do. When Pete finds a new Line Crosser or Rule Breaker that is willing to give us food and help us through the day, it is cause for celebration. It is easier to deal with the threats from the authorities, the lack of sleep and stuff like that when we get to eat, a rare occurrence. We are grateful. To us homeless guys, food, good food is better than gold. All to often our bad behavior is perceived as just that when in fact it may just be that we have not had any food for days or even need some water, dehydration, lack of food is dangerous.
Okay, what is the plan for tonight, we have food to spare for those who got scattered last night. What do we need to do for tonight so the old ones have eaten and can rest without fear. Pete, that is what worries me, and why I fight to get as much food as I do, they have to eat, they are too old to go hungry.
Pete, I can get some stuff for tonight from my hiding spot if we can meet later, it will help with the plans for tonight, if you can help with food in the morning. Gold for another morning? Yes, please, it was really good today. I will do my best. The coffee alone helps clear the fog and cobwebs after a restless night of dancing with the police as they do their jobs and we do what we can to not allow them to catch us.
I wonder what the police would do if we kindly left food treats for them when they begin to gather to start raids tonight? Mike, you are silly, leave treats for the police? Why not, it would be both funny and unique, maybe change their minds that we are not human, not worthy of being cared about, just a thought for us to stew on today. Pete, we would have to find sealed packs of food and then we could try and just see what they do, it would almost be worth the risk of wasting food. We will talk tonight when we gather to plan patrols for the night. Pete, you are serious, you want to leave treats for our Police friends as they gather tonight for their routine patrols? Yup, switch up the game!
Guys, have any of you heard of any that have been having trouble with a lack of food causing medical issues that we need to focus on today as we get ready to head out on our routine? I have not, Pete. I haven’t, Pete. No, Pete, it has been quiet, but we need to watch; us finding gold today does not mean that everyone else is eating and okay. Yup, okay, head and we will see everyone later later today, send out the signal if there is an emergency.
Hey, its me Pete, today we were kind of all over the map. It gets that way sometimes when we collect good food, it is so hard to find good food that will help us out here. The Pantries are gone, the shelters are harder, and you know, you have heard it before, but thanks for joining us. If you see a homeless one, instead of calling the authorities, why not give them a bit to eat, be kind,.

What Will Their Outcome Be?
You Have a Part to Play…
