Let’s Have a Conversation Today
Morning Guys, We Are Tired of Being Hungry
Good morning, guys, hope y’all are doing well today. We are good, getting a little worried about you, you are way off schedule as the world would say. I know Bill had one of his nights, so I had a late start. Is he okay now? He is better, found him a safe spot to sleep, cool and way out of sight and will check on him later. He has been having a lot of them lately. Yes, sadly.
This is yet another thing housed folks do not understand when they are told that one or this one is shelter resistant, to use their fancy, big words. They seem to like being spoon fed few big words they do not even understand. Shelter Resistant, what does that mean Pete? It means that a person does not or will not comply with the shelter environment. But, but doesn’t it explain why? Nope, that would make truth apparent and that is not acceptable. Bill served this nation for years with honor, and like so many others, he is now left to try and figure how to live life damaged from the things he had to do and what he saw. And they still blame us for being for both homeless, Shelter Resistent, and hungry.
Good morning, everybody, breathe, are there treats today with coffee? Of course, I try and make sure we don’t go hungry, I need to set aside something for Bill for later though. Of course, I hope he will be okay. He will be as long as he stays put, and I will check on him real soon.
Hey Pete, or Billy Bob, what are we talking about today? Well, Frankie, we are shooting the breeze about being hungry all the time! Oh dang, Billy Bob, not that you already know how we feel and what it causes out here! Mike, relax, we know, but them folks reading this here writing may not know, we need to talk that they can read and understand why food is so important to us. Okay Pete, I will settle down, more coffee please. Here Mike, enjoy.
Pete, do those reading this even understand what it feels like to not eat for two or even three days sometimes, especially when the police are really busy. Now remember, the police are not the problem, just doing their job, and sadly we are their job. Most of them do not, and yet more are hurting right now and may understand our struggle, cause since that Pandemic things have been bad for many folks in this nation. Hey, have y’all heard the new term they are using to make it sound super professional, not having enough food and all, have you? No Frankie we have not, what is it? They call that area where food ain’t too good or real scarce a food desert!
Pete, you remember old Bart that used to be out here with us some years back. Oh, goodness, do not remind me of him, he was one tough bug, and he caused a lot of problems for many. But what got Bart started most of the time? Bart could not stand being hungry and his brain just flipped if he was hungry for too long and his behavior followed. He could cause a ruckus for us to all remember, but that one officer finally figured why he was throwing that fit and got it solved without jail. He fed him and he became as quiet as the old church mouse and behaved himself very quickly.
Old Bart gone now, right? Yea, he left a couple years back. But his story is still true for so many out here and food or the lack of it causes many more Bart reactions that many do not understand. But if the police don’t believe, if the people don’t accept this, how are things going to change? By us talking, sharing and living better and maybe the light will shine on them!
Diabetes, dehydration, medications on an empty tummy, heat and cold without food can make a homeless person or not act like a total fool any day and all day. Pete, then why do they keep taking our food away from us, it is like they want to provoke us into behaving badly so they can put us in jail or somewhere else. Mike, think about what you just said, and the answer is in your own words.
On, snap really Pete, has it come down to this, starve us into going away while we are still alive just so we are off the streets? The new policies and laws ain’t making it easy for us to eat nor survive.
Frankie, you and Pete and have been sourcing new sites for us? Billy Bob, the on thing that I the thing that still amazing me, ‘the Line Crossers’ that we have on our sides, they do not want recognition and want to remain unknown and yet want to help us. Yes, we love our ‘Line Crossers and Rule Benders.’ So very much. They do not break the law, but they use discretion when obeying it, they prefer helping us versus strict obedience. So, I am working on a couple of new spots and watching over the ones that we have currently. They are our only safeguard against consistent hunger.
I wonder how those housed humans were to function if they were made to go without the precious $10.00 coffee each day or told that they had to skip meals every other day, or they could not have sweets for a month. Or the food they do eat would all be room temperature, no hot or cold food for a month. I wonder if that would awaken them to our suffering and constant hunger and needs? Frankie, $10.00 coffee is steep bit, right? Well, you know where I was going, just another hungry rant of mine. We all know Frankie, you like the dramatic punch, so people remember, and maybe think. But, Frankie, that is the problem with housed folk, they let the government think for them, sheep, sheep, sheep that is all they are, sheep. So, you don’t want pizza before bed tonight? Darn, yes, bring it on.
Alight, you folks hang out for a bit, I have to get back and check in on Bill, I will bring him for our meet up tonight. You know the routine and all that good stuff. If he needs anything at all come and find me I will be available to help in any way I can. All this talk about hunger makes me so ready for real food tonight, I hope that the day goes well so we can gather and eat tonight as planned. That is the same feeling we all have Pete, please be safe and take care of Bill. Will do Billy Bob.
Well folks, thanks for joining us again this morning. Today our little Consortium hit two unique topics. One that is ever present and rarely handled well on the streets. A veteran with PTSD and they do not fare well in the standard shelters, thus they end up on the streets. Secondly, I want you to think after reading these conversational snips between these made up humans. If you see a homeless human and they are acting mean, angry, a little aggressive, a little out of it, unbalanced, could it simply be that they are hungry, dehydrated and need food and water? Again, thank for joining us, blessings
