An Introduction to Talk Some Simply Truth

Today’s blog is a little different then most we have read over the past few months.  You must take time to read it carefully, the plot line is a bit sarcastic in nature about what is and is not built with truth and how truth has been thrown out. It also looks at the facts that often are not truth regarding the homeless and the ability they have in helping themselves with some assistance to actually come off the streets. But truth is required in all phases. Will you engage and stand for truth or will you stand for convenience?

Simply Talking Truth

Too many folks love the complex, the deep, the convoluted, and the multiple bunny trails and instead it should be simple and straight forward and made to be easy enough for a kid to understand.  This homeless thing, ain’t complicated, but man does the government make it so, it sounds so good, all the agencies and groups and yet, nothing is done, but if it were boiled back to the simple, would an answer come?

It’s Howard, I have talking to you about all this stuff out here, but let me ask you this, if you will listen, how many of you, with homes, like being told what to do, when to do it and how to do it? Even if it the right thing and the best thing for you, being told to do it is something that grates the wrong way on any of us and makes dig our heels in a bit.

So, with the alphabet soup of government agencies and the seasoning of the non-profits mixed they all have some really good ideas that might actually work. However when they all come at us with ideas and plan and proposals that we must do and we have to do and we should comply with and we are told to do this or go here and stand here and don’t sit here.  It is the difference telling your child to do this or asking them to do it, not that we are children, but the reaction is nearly the same. We are humans, not number on a clipboard to be herded about to meet quota and the like, that never works well out here. What would be the outcome if we were actyally included in the solutions, instead of just an after thought as we are now?

Now there are proponents of change that teach that you lay change out and you prepare to lead people in to and through change, but with them as activate part of that change.  So, instead of saying do this or do that, you say to them let’s try doing this or that to work on the situation to bring a given or desired result.

Remember folks, Howard hid out for days and did nothing but think and this is stuff he heard and then though about. So, the homeless, us folks trapped on the streets are not dumb or stupid, we are simply trapped, if you give us a hand instead of the stick, could solutions come forth? We have had the stick for too long and some have needed the stick, but not all do.  The hand with solutions can actually produce the desired end results for all involved, including us homeless folks.

But see folks it is like this, we build our world, we nail it and we hammer it and set it up real pretty and what we accept and believe as truth, well that goes into our world and what we don’t accept it does not go into our world. Even some of the building material we are given for our world is not our choice, but we build and make this life what we can and anything that does not fit, we throw it away, it is not comfortable to re-model just for change’s sake.

And having to think about homelessness in any way other than long term and not fixable and people who don’t care about their lives and people who enjoy living in filth, well, I don’t think people will re-model their comfortable world to accept that those statements are false. Truth is a building material, but people have learned to build without it, sadly. It will take time to re-introduce truth as a foundational building material for ending homelessness once again.
