How quickly the compassion faded. When the cameras were on and the crisis made headlines, money flowed, speeches were made, and promises were shouted about protecting the vulnerable. Now the programs are gone, the aid has ended, and the same leaders who once celebrated their generosity watch quietly as apartments are emptied, eviction notices pile up, and hundreds are pushed onto the streets. The concern that sounded so loud during the pandemic has grown strangely silent now that the consequences are walking the sidewalks in plain sight.

News Flash

We all thought the pandemic was the biggest problem we would face in the decade, but guess what, these here jokers are bringing us one tough nut today. They are wanting us to talk about what they are calling the acceptable fallout from the handouts, such as evictions and loss of housing. The folks in Phoenix are going out 7 days a week to remove people from their homes, and we are supposed to be quiet about it, why? How are we to ever bring down the numbers with evictions rising daily? Coffee time! Is that what they call the end result of Biden-economics?

What Do You Have to Say About That Tidbit:

I do not know, they always pick me, the mad one, for this part of our morning coffee chat, which often makes me want to throw my coffee and leave. So, the numbers of us on the streets is not high enough, they are adding to them by yanking the pandemic aid that everyone was saying would be a problem! Told you so! Every evicted person should travel to that guy who was in the White House and demand answers, but he probably can’t remember too much. So, it is just more proof we do not matter.

What about the kids, the babies, the old ones, is there any protections for them? Will they also be tossed to the streets? Will the homeless loop of struggle, death, and dying swallow them up and show no mercy? Why is it always easier to make people homeless than to fix a broken, bust system that allows humans of all ages, races, classes, and economic brackets to die on the streets?

 I mean had what some call a choice, but I still say no choice, if I wanted to stay alive, I had to walk into the darkness to hide and stay alive. No one else was protecting me and the system sure was not. But these people barely made it through the bogus pandemic, and now the result is not the terror they said would happen, but it is nearly worse; it is homelessness. Yes, the pandemic hurt, did damage and took lives, but it was still nearly predictable, this behavior, well…

Round Table Discussion  

Okay, for some reason, they are letting me go first out of the gate for our round table this morning, may not be a great idea. Evictions is one program that the banks, landlords, courts, and the government have down to a science, if you would ask me. At the same time, it is dangerous; people going to the homes, or apartments often are harmed or killed in serving the warrants. Truthfully, it is not a job I would not want, the grief, the danger, the sadness, the kids, the old ones, no way, too much. Now, what do the people do, being homeless without help, but without hope?

It is that catch-22 with no darn answers, and no one appears to care. So, we populate the streets, until you get mad about us being out here, go figure please, I mean darn…

Hey folks, it’s me, Johnny Boy, these guys are hot under the collar with this topic, why, you dare to ask, because many of them have been evicted. All of your possessions thrown out on the streets, you lose everything, you have nowhere to go, and no one is coming to help. Then, in the midst of anger, fear and the like, you have to figure out how to live with nothing while heading to the streets. You housed folks have no idea of the pain, fear, and hopelessness as you lay down on the cement for the first night, hoping to not die.

Here, try this, go out in your backyard, let’s say, without anything with you, no water, blankets, papers, shoes, clothes, food, and sit there for just two hours and tell how it feels. Now multiply that by days, weeks, months an you may begin to understand our position, maybe.

Me, Pete here, I have already spoken a little bit this morning and I am not any happier or any less frustrated. It is silly to evict people when there is no other place for them to go. Why not work with them to lower the rent for a period of time, get them level square then move forward? But see the problem with that is this, that filled with common sense and the government has none and will never deploy common sense in a tough time, to easy for all concerned. Why do the homeless, those labeled bums, use more common sense than all the government smart people and the think tanks?

What Can We Do As Mere Humans Trapped IN the System

Here is the tough part, folks: we are homeless humans, trapped in a failed, broken, useless system, we can do nothing at all. Yet on the other hand, the government and the housed folks make sure we know that all of it is our fault and if we were not bums, crazy, derelicts, and the like, we could solve the problems ourselves. How do we as homeless humans, impact the surge of evictions in Phoenix, or better yet, all across the United States? We are trapped, more are joining us, and there is no release valve, so why even worry about it.

Let’s Close with This:

They turned off the aid and called it recovery—saved for a moment, then abandoned for the long haul; the system showed up fast, left faster, and called the collapse that followed “normal.”

Read that small paragraph again, that again. That is exactly what they did to many, many Americans, that former, sleeping President, and no one got upset at all, but when we sit down, ask for help, or fall asleep they raise cain out here. Talk about an oxymoron and we got bit on both ends and have no mode of recovery, and we are still to blame how it that?

Conclusion

The conclusion has already been written, what is there to say! I mean, they give us warm, fresh coffee, food to eat and then throw a verbal hand grenade into the mix and expect us to respond as calm, normal humans, no way! They should take the time and talk to the people in Phoenix who are being evicted as we speak and ask them these dumb questions. So, thanks for the coffee, I am done for today, please make tomorrow’s subject less maddening please. Remember this, we have the process, the why behind what they do, but we never wish harm or hurt on anyone doing their job, and anyone who hurts a person doing their job, should be locked up for the rest of their life.

See you folks, housed and the rest of you say you do not understand why we avoid you and stay a long way off, this is why: you all are half crazy, and yet we are told you are normal. I mean, who gives a hungry child a gooey peanut butter and jelly sandwich and then yanks it away after the first bite and says, sorry, you were only meant to have that one tiny bite. What nation gives millions of aid to the struggling and then remove it without planning or processing, they just remove all aid, not thinking through the consequences. And we are the crazy ones?
