A Word of Introduction to Simply Confused:
Today we are going to look at a subject that we think is reserved for the older folk among us. But this is something that another population group has to deal with on a regular basis. To be Confused is to not think clearly or to not understand something. Now a lot of people think the homeless are dumb folk, but their confusion is often related to severe dehydration and lack of food. Yes, there is alcohol and drugs involved with some, but watch how that paint brush is used, narrow and in the lines please. Confusion can be just because they have lost everything and nothing left and nowhere to go.

Why do I say that my nickname is now confusion, it is because of where I am at and the unique place I am at as a homelessness, unemployed, unseen, forgotten, lost human in this society. Things that used to make sense and were considered normal to you and to me, now they make no sense to me also leave me totally confused. Yeah, yeah, I know this sounds as if I am complaining and fussing, but I am not, I just am trying to figure things out and thinking way too much and seeing how it all becomes confused. Follow my line of thinking for just a moment and you may understand where I am at right now.
Here is the number one thing that confuses me, how society lumps all homeless into one single group and paints them with the one brush stroke of bums begging for handouts because they don’t want to fix their lives. It is as if we automatically lose our human worth when we end up on the streets, as if it is a choice. A puppy is still a cute puppy when it is found roaming the streets, a kitten is still adorable when lost on the streets, but a human. Now that is a weird line of thinking, but out here you see it all. How do we have our humanity stripped so easily?
People believe that we can fix this on our own, confused, when tough time comes or tragedy hit in the housed community many gather together to help and to solve, without question, right? When humans in homes get into trouble, others rally to assist, so what is the difference?? We see it all throughout life, the double standard and yet it is in greater contrast when we hit the streets as our final landing pad.
I am confused because if you go into the area in which you live you can sit on a bus or park bench for hours on end without being bothered, but if I do, watch out. Again, I am not complaining, I am trying show the differing standards by which we all live without thinking and how it affects that that struggle with homelessness. If I am on a park or bus bench for any length of time I will be stopped, question and possibly ticketed for loitering, oh by the way how will I pay the ticket?
This great nation, founded by a bunch of immigrants that came into this nation for an equal opportunity not equal results, but also the sense of community and care that once existed, is now nearly gone. Homes are divided, families busted and broke, church don’t teach truth, school are warehouses, jobs are shipped offshore, old folk are sent away and cannot teach the younger generation, and the younger generation is being given privileges to the point of irresponsibility. Where is the sense of community that once made, held and grew this nation into greatness? The government is engineering a new America, and people are not seeing it, it is not confusing them but they should. 60 years ago, homelessness was nearly unheard of, why, because families were there, churches were there, this leaves me so confused.
Ye, I am a thinker, and yes I finished high school, nothing that will help me out here, this is why I am confused, I did exactly what I was told to do all my growing years and now because of one situation, everything is lost and there is no recovery in sight, totally confused, hurt and sad. Oh, the wish for families, for the church for communities to rally once again, they do not, so what is their use in the social life?
